Tired Skin & System Smoothie Savior

Monday, Monday… sigh…

Was it as hard to wake up this Monday morning for you as it was for me? That alarm sounded and I couldn’t help but wish to be transported back in time, even if just 24hrs to lavish in a Sunday snooze fest. Alas, it wasn’t to be and I needed a serious pick me up to get me out the door and on my way to a good week.

My solution? Making my tried, true, and Tuesday-tested Smoothie Savior ::

Loaded with fruits and veggies that hydrate, nourish, and provide a super dose of vitamin c and iron I make it by throwing everything in my Vitamix and really blending it well. I’ll pour into my glass mason jar and into the fridge with a straw while I shower and get ready ( I always begin the day with a my special hot tea blend and a half a lemon juice). On my way out the door I have my giant juice to go. Sometimes it lasts me perfectly throughout the morning or I will drink it throughout the day, leaving a healthy portion for that 4 o’clock pick-me-up since I am an early evening yogi!

Tired Skin & System Smoothie
Makes 1 large mason jar (half liter) of juice to drink throughout the morning or day

Ingredients
1.5 cups pure coconut water
10 oz. chopped seedless watermelon
1/2 a large english cucumber
1/2 lemon, skin removed and chopped
1 ripe Bartlett pear, cored and chopped
1 granny smith green apple, cored and chopped
1 rib of celery, chopped
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 Tbsp flax seed oil (or whole or ground flax seeds)
1 tsp organic raw honey or, better yet, active Manuka honey
1 generous handfull raw fresh spinach, washed

Vitamin Boost:
1 tablet Skin Nails and Hair multivitamin by Megafood
1 tablet 500mg Vitamin C, by Natures Bounty
1 capsule Culturelle Natural Enzyme Probiotic

Method
1. In a mortar and pestle, place your vitamin, vitamin c tablet, and probiotic powder. Pound and grind to a powder. Reserve.

2. Add all the ingredients into your high speed blender in this order: coconut water, watermelon, cucumber, lemon, pear, apple, celery, cinnamon, vitamin powder, flax oil, honey, spinach. Blend very well for about 2-3 minutes. Pour, chill, and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

So make it, drink it, and be sure to additionally drink at least a gallon of filtered water along with the juice for maximum benefits. Check in with yourself Tuesday morning and notice the benefits: Glowing skin? Dark circles disappearing? Better night sleep? Less bloated? Renewed energy to tackle the day or the week?

Here’s to YOU and to the better week ahead,
xo
