There aren’t many places in New York where you can find true peace and quiet with the exception of locking yourself in your bathroom, lighting a candle, cranking up some mozart, and running a hot bath. Even then, there’s no guarantee that the manic world around you won’t creep in and interrupt your solitude. Hence why my yoga studio physically locks the studio for my 90 minute class… So imagine my delighted surprise at finding this tranquil cove of forsythia tucked away along the upper west side of Central Park. It was my very own forsythia fort, just waiting for me to take a load off and come on in. It’s a New Yorker’s dream to find such natural stillness and space, and was a truly magical New York spring moment for me. May you find your own fort of forsythia this week, and have the time to savor a few blissful moments of spring silence.
