There’s something magical about Mondays at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Until this year, Monday’s were closed to the general public and only open for museum members and patrons. As a long time supporter of the Met and an Art History major in college, I grew up adoring escaping to the Met on Monday mornings to roam the quite marble hallways trying to fit in visiting all my favorite works, before the day came creeping in to take me away. I’ve even dreamt that I would eat my weekly almond croissant allowance while sitting in front of a van Gogh, just like Pierce Brosnan does, momentarily at rest from work, in the classic remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. And on a Spring Monday that is as epically gorgeous as this one, I couldn’t possibly miss a Monday at the Met to see my old friends. So after scouring the Impressionist Galleries, European and the American Paintings, saying a quick hello to William in the Egyptian Wing, and munching on a plate of perfectly crisp french fries in the members dinning room, I had to venture out to see the shinning sculptures and flower beads in full bloom that beckon from the park beyond the glass windows of Dendur on this epic spring day.
