Clean Reads: Rest, Relax & Recharge

Labor Day weekend is a great time for me to take a breath. Not only can I catch
up on a stack of reading, steal a short break from social media, and take stock of the
always hectic and too short summer, but I can use the brief downtime time to recharge and get revved up for the season and months ahead. It’s the one time each year I can count on to inspire me.
Fall is by far my favorite season, and the week leading up
to September is always marked by an automatic swell of anticipation and
excitement. I think I never really lost that academic mentality: the one that
senses when the humidity breaks and the evenings get delightfully cool, it means time to workout a little harder I was a runner throughout school, reorganize my world,
my mind, and my schedule, and get ready for the no doubt nonstop semester ahead. Now my classes are replaced with
catwalks, papers with posts, and 6:30am singing sectionals with early
morning shoots and street style sessions. I’m still forever running though, trying
constantly to improve my time although now in stilettos instead of sneakers.
And so Labor Day marks that single small sliver of me time. It’s time when I can savor the long days and warm sunsets, taking it all in slowly like sipping a
fine Bordeaux, as if I am carefully etching it in my memory, to have it stashed
away when the days get bitterly cold, appalling dark, dreary, and short. It’s
my time to recalibrate: to detox my body, to cleanse my mind, and to reset my clock once again
for the season ahead. It’s the brief calm before the fashion storm hits during
which I indulge my way: I sleep long, do lots of yoga, check in for a DIY Spa Day, and
read and read and read…

This week I’m sharing some of my favorite ways to rest,
relax, and recharge some, if not all, of which I hope you can use over the holiday weekend. So here is my list of MUST READS if you are looking to fill your kindle, nightstand, or suitcase. I love to read about health and wellness and when I read I find that I am a
constant researcher. Learning more about the body, the mind, eating, and skincare, or getting inspired by healthy living and alternative cooking, medicine, and fitness is how I
fill my reading list these days. So above is my list of carefully chosen and highly recommended reads for right now, or for simply when you can get to it.
I hope you’ll pick up or download a few my favorites to
help you get inspired for a more fit and fulfilling fall, a better you, and a more fabulous life.
Much love and truly thank you for reading!
