Happy Weekend loves! Fall weekends at TSM are entirely fueled by the call of the wild… that hungry beast inside my stomach that sleeps all week long until Saturday morning rolls around, and then wakes ravenous, screaming “BRUNCH!”
In autumn, brunch is at it’s best in NYC. And at this time there is always some kind of pumpkin special to be found on every artisanal menu; we’re talking pancakes, waffles, bread pudding, and of course the cult classic pumpkin spice latte! But when the mornings are cool, it’s that steaming hot cup of rich freshly brewed black coffee that gets me out from under the covers, and into some cozy-chic attire to make it to my favorite counter, or corner near home or just across the bridge. I’ll always have a hat and shades in hand, and will make sure to dress in layers to accommodate the potential of an all day liquid-lunch with friends, or just survive the swing in temperatures from indoors to outdoors, from sun up to sun down. Weekends are my time to experiment with funky jewelry, to indulge in wearing flats, and to layer on the dry shampoo to give my hair that luxurious bed head thing, and give shampooing it a rest.
This season is all about the blanket cape, as we know from Burberry, which basically means we can grab a throw from the living room couch and throw on a pair of booties and automatically be street style set for months!! I love this cape (pictured above) from ASOS as it is so soft and affordable, and pairs perfectly layered over my current wardrobe staple JOE FRESH cable knit sweater. Add an old pair of jeans and soft flats or slouchy boots, and voila:: it’s brunch, blanket, BINGO baby. Let’s eat!
