The Perfect Spring Dress: Navy Nautical and No-Fuss from J. McLaughlin

That perfect spring dress is the dress you reach for the most in your closet, and the one you can easily accessorize in a pinch, know will look great no matter how crummy you feel, and is sure to look appropriate in any setting. It’s a classic staple that can go from a casual weekend day on the water to an early summer business lunch, and then onto sunset filled drinks on a city side walk or sea side porch.
So when it comes to finding that go-to dress for THIS spring, I really want you to check out the Sun City Dress from J.McLaughlin. This dress is the perfect spring-summer weight, comes in a classic trio of colors (navy, white, and khaki) and has enough structure to hold up after multiple wearings, washings, and still flatter a wide range of figures. I’m amazed at how many times I have thrown on this dress in the past month of owning it. I love putting it on early on a warm morning knowing that I won’t sweat through it’s breathable fabric and thoughtful cut. And I can be confident that it will still look pressed and fresh by the time I want to grab a post-work day happy hour drink with girlfriends. Given that it’s the ultimate busy day, busy girl dress, means it’s also perfect for packing and a great travel dress as it just cannot seem to wrinkle! I love accessorizing it with classic creams and whites, gold jewelry, and red nails around this time of year, and I know it will be my uniform for Memorial Day weekend… I just may have to snag another in white to celebrate the unofficial start to summer!
When styling this spring silhouette, you can experiment with patterned scarves, belts, and blazers. I have taken off it’s fabric belt, seen above, and swapped it for one of J McLaughlin’s toggle rope belts multiple times to jazz up the look, making the dress look completely different. It looks great when paired with strappy heeled sandals, gold flats, and cork wedges. Even tan gladiator sandals with the JMCL Wanderlust belt would give this dress an upscale festival-fashion California chic feel. Add a great hat and a killer bag (like the fab Weekender Large Sailcloth Duffle from J. McLaughlin you see above) and you’re ready for anything spring and summer could possibly throw at you.
So what’s your go-to spring piece?
