Luxe London Living

When it comes to London, almost everywhere you set foot outside of the local pub is shockingly more beautiful, more pristine, and more luxurious than the next. Therefore the standards of luxury in London are let’s say pretty darn high! So when I was visiting the city  I used to call home a few weeks back, I had my sights set on discovering the spots that are redefining a level of luxury that is already a step above the rest: London Luxury.

I know a lot of you would agree with me that when you travel, you want to live like a local; blend in with the crowd, avoid the tourist traps, get to know the people and places that give the destination it’s culture, vibe, and energy. But at the end of the day, you want to be pampered too! After all, travel is a luxury and should always include an element of indulgence, otherwise it’s like going to a great restaurant, spending the money on a fantastic meal, and skimping on desert… Seriously, who does that?

So let’s say we all want to live like a local when we travel, but to be more accurate, we all want to live like a certain kind of local. Well this persistent fantasy of mine came true for a brief, but truly magical, moment when I stayed at London’s Grosvenor House Suites. Located at the corner of Park Lane and Mount Street in London’s uber posh section of Mayfair, Grosvenor House Suites sits with an unobstructed view of Hyde Park to the west and all of Mayfair to the east. I actually lived in Mayfair when I lived in London, so believe me when I tell you, it’s absolutely the best location in all of London: we’re talking steps from some of the best women’s shopping and most impeccable restaurants in the world, and the most meticulously manicured (dog friendly might I add) park anywhere is your backyard.

The Grosvenor House Suites building itself is expertly designed: beginning with its understated classic facade and private entrance on Mount Street (versus the bustling Park Lane) which provides for utmost privacy, security, and safety. All important factors for the property’s most discerning guests. There is a two floor check in system of entry with 2 receptions that further heighten security and peace of mind. Upon entering the second floor you find a zen-filled oasis: an open center courtyard atrium filled with natural light that floods in from the entirely glass ceiling almost a dozen floors up. Here there is a comfortable lounge, private restaurant, and bar where everything is on hand or available at your request. Looking up you’ll notice that all the hallways are oriented around this central interior courtyard to allow the suites and apartments maximum views outward of Hyde park, Mayfair and beyond.

Our several room suite, as you can see from the pictures above, was absolutely breathtaking. I found myself moving from window to window to door for hours just gasping at the picture perfect views on the sunny blue afternoon we arrived. (Sunny. No joke. Again, proof above) The suite, or I should honestly say flat, included a beautiful open plan living room, dinning room, & full kitchen, huge bathroom with the longest tub ever, & a master bedroom with the most closet and storage space a girl could dream of.  The rooms fill with natural light from 2 exposures to showcase the beautiful finishes and fabrics throughout: leather, skins, cashmere, marble and the list goes on. The suite is completely teched-out, everything from music, ambience lighting settings, temperature, communication, information, and beyond running from several computer panels throughout the space. The place was seriously stocked with custom goodies: from ice cold Tatinger, to Asprey products, artisan waters, and more snacks and treats then I could or should ever eat. Even fresh roses and hand iced London buscuits were delivered seconds after we settled in. AND, might I add (since this is something I notice, at nauseam to my husband and friends) the food is beyond outstanding, fresh & delicious…even latte art arrives to your door piping hot and beautiful!

Speaking of: if service is something you consider when you travel, I cannot say enough about the speed and standard of service at Grosvenor House Suites. Anything we requested or ordered arrived in under 25 minutes, and the entire staff maintained an unparalleled level of service and expertise, constantly making sure my husband and I felt like royalty. I don’t say this often, but it was really an experience above and beyond what I have come to expect when I travel. I highly recommend staying at Grosvenor House Suites especially if you are traveling work as well. That way every moment you are not tied up in meetings and obligations, you will feel like your on a stolen vacation no one else needs to know about.B

But for someone like me who travels back to London often to visit close friends, work, and most importantly to see my godson, I love the feeling of being back home again. At Grosvenor House Suites I can cook or cater a dinner party, host an event, have enough room to prep and get through London Fashion Week, or simply plan the most special day with my godson, and Girls Night In with my best friends.

Like I said, fantasy come true.
